The Impact of Technology
Here's an interesting article from the New York Times about the impact of technology on our interactions with other people.( Click Here for - Technology is Not Driving Us Apart After All) Maybe the "good old days" weren't as great as we remember.
I love that they tried to recreate W.H.Whyte's analysis of social spaces. I think it's important to challenge "common knowledge" like "people are always on their cell-phones ignoring others" when observational studies show that people just check phones while they are waiting. And even that is a new dimension of social interconnection. I may use this in class as a way of challenging what we assume to be true about social behavior.
